Solid food. The pizza was a bit unusual for my taste, but that might just be their style — it’s not a typical Italian pizza. The veggie lasagne was surprisingly good and very delicious. Our waiter (a young, tall guy) was super nice and funny. We will definitely come back. We visited the restaurant in January, and it was extremely busy in the evening, so we recommend making a reservation.

The most delicious thin-based pizza I've ever had. Beautiful outdoor seating under trees & shade, cosy & rustic indoor seating with warm-welcoming service & great swinging music to fuel your soul. Menu has a diverse selection of pizza, pasta, burgers & schnitzels. The "Diavola" pizza has a killer topping combo, my personal Favourite! Must stop destination when visiting Swellendam.
Possibly one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had! Crispy, thin and delicious base and great variety of topping combinations to meet various taste and dietary preferences. For vegetarians, I’d recommend the Aubergine pizza and for vegans, the Daniella is delicious! Atmosphere is cozy and rustic and the outside is full of shady trees - perfect for a hot day. Thanks for always providing a memorable and positive dining experience! :)
It was excellent. I really can recommend this Restaurant to eat Pizza. The Ambiente is so cute (escpecially if you like Jazz music) and the Waiter was soo nice. I have never eaten a Grecarita - a Margaritha clapped like a Sandwitch with Greec Salat in it - such a good combination.
Absolutely one of the best! You know what you order, you know the taste, you know what to expect. There's something extremely comforting in consistency, which is a hard one to get right every single time. Honesty, if we don't have pasta and pizza once week, we long for it. The schnitzel, pizzas and pastas are just absolutely delicious (sorry, these are just so great that we can't seem to move through the menu and try different dishes - it's been 15+ years)! Well done guys!
We were just in Swellendam for the day on business and came here before hitting the road to go back to Knysna. Glad we came! Heinrich is a great host and made an quiet restaurant (day after Easter weekend) come alive with his warmth and personality. On top of great service, the food far above expectations (and they were high from looking at ratings). Two of us had pizzas and one had a pasta. The pizza here is some of the best I've EVER had! I have travelled and been around and Woodpecker is making some of the best pizza in SA. Thin, crispy base, quality poppings and just a great eating experience. WOW. I don't know how but I'll have to fit Swellendam and Woodpecker into my WC trips more.

Super thin bases, quality ingredients! Fresh avo, beautiful bacon. Highly recommend. We came at 5pm with our baby. By the time we left all the tables were full! Suggest you book during busy season for prime time seating. Personally not obsessed with the interior: would prefer a traditional Italian look & feel, but functional and comfortable!
